Top 10 Ten Things To Remember About 6th Grade ELA

  1. Attendance is important. Be at school.  Even though notes are provided when you return to class, you have missed the discussion that went along with the key concepts for the day.
  2. Do ALL homework. Homework is assigned to practice specific skills for mastery.  Without practicing the skills, it is difficult to master or improve.  ELA homework is assigned on Monday and due on Friday.
  3. READ every night. The only way to increase your reading skills is to READ.
  4. Enter your nightly reading on your log. Have your parent or guardian initial it!
  5. Pay attention to your AR goals. Don’t wait until the last week of the six weeks to take your tests.
  6. Use the strategies taught in class. They WILL help you understand the text.
  7. Attend tutorials on Tuesdays and Thursdays for extra help starting October 3.
  8. Have a positive attitude. Come to class ready to focus and learn something new!
  9. If you have a question, ASK it! If you don’t want to ask me in front of others, jot me a note, see me after class, or ask your parents to email or call me.
  10. Remember I am here to help you.
